Many of our readers have been asking what to do? There is widespread agreement and awareness of the need to save tigers, but the public needs an action plan which is not tied down by the so called red tape. Many people say they will contribute funds but have doubts if it will ever get used in the right time and manner? So, we will suggest here, things to do!
Let’s be very clear. Tiger killing is NOT the major reason for the dwindling tiger population. THE major reason is the dwindling forest cover and ever increasing encroachment of the forests by us, humans. An adult male tiger needs about 80 to 100 square kilometers forest area overlapping the area of about 2 to 3 female tigers to survive and reproduce.
What we can do? We have to educate, mold public opinion and actively participate to increase the forest cover and arrest deforestation. WE have to cut down OUR industrial and consumerist greed!
For a start, form a group of like minded people and start planting trees and protecting them. If you have lot of funds, buy out areas in the forest fringe areas and build non-commercial plantations with lot of trees. You could even pool funds if this is not possible individually. Create a society or trust and do this!

Witing and giving ads with celebrities are not needed. Saving Tigers is easy but it takes some boldness from the “real feelers”—-ie eliminate the culprits, let them be in forest departments or political parties.In some cases for the survival of this beautiful planet we need to take some “off” Gandhian steps and mainly the 50-60 years old laws have to be changed.
The main change that can give a little more chance for this lovely NATIONAL Animal to survive is that by not letting any companies or businessmen or concern to start resorts in the forest areas as one man or company makes money by exploiting other lives (not only Tigers but also other animals) and spoil the eco system and also finally us.

this is really good effort by you people, i really want to contribute to save tigers not because its our national animal but because it really very beautiful, cute animal God created. since i am away from india how can i contribute to save as a individual please give some idea.
I wanted to be a part of this cause the minute i saw the AIRCEL ad. It left me in daze seeing less number of tigers in our country. We should certainly take an initiative and everyone should partake to encourage this cause.

As it is mentioned that China is the main consumer of tiger’s parts. here our Govt may take initiate and negotiate with China strictly to stop consumption of tiger’s part else stop importing any thing from china. i guess since we are the second largest in population so we would definetely be the bigest consumer of their products. that gives huge revenue to them. i would suggest to attack on their revenue then they may take initiative to stop their demand for tiger’s part. since we know most of the population are in towns it will take time to save forest rather to save tiger whatever left now. so we can atleast take charge to stop the demand immediately. its simple economic funda if there is no demand so there would be no supply. now its our call what we want to show our next generation only the photo or live tiger. pls pls think about it and do to stop demand first.

Looks like a good idea! Make economic war. Stop using Chinese products (which are cheap and bad quality anyways) until they stop tiger trafficking. This could be a strategic indirect action which all people can do voluntarily.
It is not just killing of tigers, a main reason for death of tigers. In fact I have visited many national parks and wild life sancturies and have noticed the condition of these parks. One could forget the word hygiene at these places where there are not good facilities for animals, not even drinking water for them. There are again number of reasons for lack of facilities. these could be poor management by forest officers, lack of staff, negligence by staff, unavailability of doctors and so on.
we should use diagonistic approach to save tigers that is first find out cause and than solution.

National parks and wild life sanctuaries are not zoo’s where we control everything in a small enclosed space. The national parks and sanctuaries are vast open spaces where the wild animals live in natural conditions. The protection is in the form of restriction of human activity. In exceptional cases the forest department does monitor and induce water logging before the approach of summer. As written elsewhere on this blog and said by all conservationists, the only way the situation can be redeemed is by increasing the forest cover.

Yes! You are right, we don’t have much time, that’s why we have to participate in increasing forest cover. Because you and me can’t go and guard the forests or fight the mafia. The government has to and is doing that.
What we can do is to inform the right officials of any mishaps and rejuvenate and create forests – because YES, WE DON’T HAVE MUCH TIME. The sooner, the better. The afforestation rate has to beat the deforestation rate with highest possible margins.
Let me begin with my humble request2every1.STOP CRITISING in any form & instead,begin with fresh motive & intention into PLANT MORE & MORE trees in & around forest area where we ordinary public is being allowed into for the wellness of wild animals’ & in these effort out of many our primary aim is to must educate & spread, our servant & maid, whose family leaves in any remote area situated nearby to not to cut trees any more.
As i have seen many a times while climbing a “mountain” in MADUBAN,JHAKHAND DIST. that many local people from that area use to cut trees like plucking a flower!!
so please without wasting much of our energy it is the right time to do concrete

Hi everybody, 1st to save the tigers on this land save the forest that’s what every one says, but to save the forest what is it to do? Mainly u should start not using or minimise the usage of the comodities that are coming from the forest, say simply paper, save paper save trees and u save deforestation. Like wise start using minimum of wodden furnitures and the articles that are made from trees.
2nd thing was stop using the products that are made from the animal residues.
NOTE: TO ALL THE READERS IT WAS JUST EASY TO SAY THINGS BUT VERY VERY HARD TO IMPLIMENT FOR THEMSELVES. SO PLEASE TRY TO STOP USING THE WOODEN PRODUCTS AND ANIMAL PRODUCTS ATLEAST ONE PRODUCT FROM EVERY PERSON THAT WILL BE OUR START TO SAVE THE TIGER WHICH IS ALSO OUR NATIONAL ANIMAL. BE PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN AND TO HAVE TIGER AS A NATIONAL ANIMAL.

Protect, restore corridors to ensure connectivity between tiger habitats while ensuring that human-tiger conflicts are reduced.
Reduce pressures on the tiger habitats by promoting alternative livelihoods for local communities in and around tiger habitats.
Create incentives for local communities as well as state and regional government and opinion-makers to support tiger conservation.

Urban housing as well as rural housing scheme are needed to arrest spreading population to forest. More so religious activity in forest should also be strongly condemned and not be allowed. In many caves where tiger sud be living i have seen people have established temple. It is sure God has never desired that. please never visit to such a temple or religious place which according to you should be a living place for wild animal.

We agree, poachers will neither read this blog nor will they be affected any way, if they do read it by chance. This blog is to make the common people aware of the need to save tigers by saving the ecosystem. A tiger is a good indication of the health of the ecosystem. A common man can contribute in arresting deforestation and planting trees, developing non-commercial plantations. We stress the word “non-commercial” because, commerce entails destruction.

My question is that whether this “awareness in cities” is right? Even if I know the concern that only 1000 tigers left, even if I know the importance of this message but what about the population which lives near by Jungle. Whether this message has reached to them. Whether they know the severity of this problem? The advertisement on television for “Save Tigers” is in English. I think that should be Regional language or at least in Hindi. Also I have seen the Severe Tree demolish in “Satpuda” in Maharashtra, who will control this? I think only the awareness wont help instead laws should be strict with Awareness. Recently I went to home which is remote village in Maharashtra where the “Sarpanch” of the village told me that its common to kill the animals and eat. This is horrible and I came to know that campaigning is not touching the emotions of the Grass-Root level people. In captivity they remained 50-60, unfortunately, can not the mate among themselves, as are all related, so that they will soon disappear. They have disappeared because of human negligence and greed.
We need to guide those ppl who r more close to nature. who works with tigers daily.. If they hav some feeling they will try to protect animals them from there hearts!!!!!
I wanna know what v can do to save animals apart from educating ppl and making them aware of threats to Earth??…..

We should stop killing tigers as they are living beings and every living beings has the right to live. We should respect our National animal as we respect our INDIAN FLAG.
